Warner Bros has released the first official trailer for Martin Campbell’s upcoming superhero flick The Green Lantern (or, Linterna Verde, as its Spanish subtitle indicates).
Linterna Verde stars Ryan Reynolds as test pilot Hal Jordan/intergalactic cop The Green Lantern. It also features Blake Lively as love interest Carol Ferris., Mark Strong as the (surprise surprise) villainous Sinestro, and Peter Sarsgaard as the similarly evil Dr. Hector Hammond. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Taika Waititi (Boy) as Hal’s buddy Thomas.

It’s definitely shiny! There’s something of a similarity between this trailer and the first Iron Man film; no doubt due to the sense of discovery inherent in most origin stories (as well as Reynolds and Downey Jr.‘s similar smart-alec playboy shtick).
Although Martin Campbell recently delivered the excellent actioner Casino Royale, his last film was the mind-numbingly drab Edge of Darkness. Here’s hoping he’s brought his A-game to this high profile property.
